There are certain highways out there that, for one reason or another, have become a mecca for road trips. Some that come to mind are Route 66, the Pacific Coast Highway, U.S. Highway 1, Great River Road, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. While it might not be as commonly known as these, U. S. Highway 321 is well worth putting on your list of sights to see when you visit Lenoir & the NC foothills.

U. S. Highway 321 runs for 516.9 miles, beginning in South Carolina, running through North Carolina, and ending in Tennessee. Here in Caldwell County, North Carolina, it goes through the scenic towns of Granite Falls, Morganton, Hudson, and Lenoir, before heading north to Blowing Rock and Boone. One of the beautiful things about any scenic drive, such our beloved 321, is the ability to see and do so many things along the way.

Our area offers an abundance of options, including amazing restaurants and cafes, outdoor recreation options, accommodations, wineries, breweries, distilleries, family activities, festivals, nightlife, and shopping opportunities. Whether you spend a night or two (or more!) at a bed and breakfast or one of our welcoming hotels, cabins, or campgrounds, you are sure to experience firsthand the southern hospitality that makes the journey on U.S. Highway 321 unforgettable.

So, as you enjoy your journey along 321, remember that Caldwell County is a great place to stop, catch your breath, and enjoy all that nature and the people have to offer.
