There are so many things to see and do when you visit Lenoir & the NC foothills that it makes sense to find a convenient location for resting up at the end of each day’s excursions. If you are a nature lover who wants to experience our area to its fullest, campgrounds are an ideal solution. There are several to choose from, so every time you come to the area, you can try something new or stick with one you’ve come to favor.

Campgrounds in the North Carolina Foothills You Won’t Want to Miss!

  • Mortimer Campground– If you are looking for a rustic setting with a few sites, this is the one for you. It has 19 sites, 5 of which are tent-only and 14 accommodate RVs up to 35’ long. The campground is perfectly situated with forest and trails for day hiking and mountain biking opportunities, as well as nearby Wilson Creek for kayaking, swimming, and fishing activities. This campground site was originally the old Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis between April 1 and November 1, or you can reserve a spot online.
  • Green Mountain Park– This beautiful RV campground within the 1,084 Green Mountain Park is the perfect getaway with something for everyone in the family. There are plenty of RV spaces with several lake view options. The campground sports several amenities, including a dump station, laundry, showers, restrooms, horseshoe pit, lighted tennis court, playground, and mini golf. In addition, there is an activities coordinator who arranges kids’ activities, bingo, card playing, arts & crafts, sand badminton, volleyball, live entertainment, and more.

In addition to RV and tent campgrounds, there are also options for cabin, cottage, and yurt rentals. Brown Mountain Beach Resort offers yurts and cottages, and Betsey’s Old Country Store & Cabin Rental has campsites, cabin rentals and RV sites.

If you want to enjoy the outdoors when you visit Lenoir & the NC foothills, the campgrounds are a good place to start, and online reservations make it easy to plan your stay.
